It has been more than three years since Windows 10 was developed. Prior to that there were a lot of operating systems made by Microsoft. Microsoft company, like any other company, also has its social responsibility. It is committed to promote sustainable future through healthy environment. Below are the main areas of focus of the company:
1. Carbon– They have operated carbon neutral across the world since 2012. Their goal is to help reduce their own global carbon emissions with their internal carbon tax, and beyond our four walls through new cloud tools and policy support.
They were able to decrease carbon emission on their corporate campus in Washington state to cut energy use by more than twenty percent. Also, they are using the cloud and Al to further reduce their own emissions and help customers track, assess and reduce their carbon footprint.
2. Energy– Microsoft has been committed to using more clean energy to power their data centers and operations each year. Their goal is to craft solutions that help green the grid and accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon energy future for all.
3. Water– Another important thing Microsoft has been doing to help the environment is that they are developing smarter solutions for managing and reducing their water consumption. Their goal for this is to enable the creation of tolls and services to help address the world’s water challenges including scarcity, pollution, and ocean health.
4. Products– They think that they should not just be making products in order to gain profit. They believe that every device they make should have the environment on their minds. Their goal is to continually improve the environmental credentials of all their products.
As you can see, there are many things that we do not see behind every company’s goals and mission. Just because a company is a software developing company, does not mean that their only focus is on that, they are also thinking of different ways to help save mother earth, and that is through the social Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
