Even if the thought of exploring wilderness does not cross your mind, still you must be prepared for the worst and have the right survival gear ready. Having an emergency kit in your car is vital. This way, you know that you can have immediate medical care either for you or one of your passengers in case of an unprecedented event.

Only 4 Things to Stay Alive

Unless you’re sick or injured, there are 4 major things that you must secure to survive outdoors. These would be:

  • Water
  • Shelter
  • Food
  • Warmth

A more thorough Discussion

First, water. You can only live 3 days without water in your body. Beyond that, you’re at great risk of dying. So when you’re out in the woods, make sure to secure your water or find a creek or stream to drink out of.

Another thing to take into account is shelter.

This will be vital to have protection from elements. Just remember, make your shelter before dark catches you.

When you’re out in the woods, the temperature can drop quickly. Thus, after prioritizing the abovementioned, immediately find a way how you can stay warm. If you’re cold, your body will seek more food for energy and heat which is a problem since this is limited when you’re in the wild.

You need to practice your hunting skills as well. As long as you know how and where to find food, you’ll be fine. When you are in survival mode though, your best options would be wild animals, wild plants, insects and bugs.
